Frequently Asked Questions.

What is the difference between a nanny and a sitter?

Sitter: Helps with sporadic, occasional needs, such as date nights, events & here and there needs.

Nanny: A consistent caregiver who helps on an ongoing weekly basis.

Can I meet the sitter before a shift?

Yes! We encourage you to talk with your assigned sitter prior to a shift, either via text, phone, FaceTime, or in-person. We also recommend scheduling a first time sitter 30 mins prior to your departure, so you have time to meet each other and communicate routines.

Can I request the same sitter every time?

Yes! We try our best to help with consistency for your family. However, given sporadic needs we can’t guarantee your desired sitter will always be available.

If you are seeking stronger consistency, and are able to provide us with a consistent schedule, we are happy to find you a consistent nanny.

How does Nittany Nannies differentiate from National Agencies?

We provide a more personalized and tailored experience. We take the time to get to know each family’s specific needs. I personally interview each candidate, check their references and make sure all clearances are up to date. Most importantly, I am a local mom too-I get it!

How do I pay my babysitter?

Your sitter will collect your payment at the end of your booking, before they leave. Sitters accept electronic payment such as Venmo, Zelle, or Apple Pay, and can accept cash. Please, no checks.

I am traveling from out of town, can you help?

Yes, we understand how stressful it can be to travel with your family for a wedding or event and not have childcare. We are happy to send your sitter to your Airbnb or hotel. We have a separate out of town rate. Stay tuned for tailgate sitter information!
